Memorial Day Weekend we had the most fun with the Grandkids by glamping in the backyard.  Up Country supplies the tent and other add ons.  They will set it up and take it down.  The tent is rain proof and has mattresses, lanterns, and battery operated fans for each camper. It is very confortable even for us Grandparents.  They will also decorate is to go with your theme. It was a total blast!! We made some really apecial memories for a lot less than a family weekend vacation.  The Grandmites participated in decorating and cooking.  I wanted to share some of these ideas for your July 4th celbration. I did the cooking with a 3 year old so the dishes are not perfect looking but a lot of heart went into them. Please let me know if you have any questions.

1.  Paint Red, White, and Blue Stars on your Yard

We used yard paint from Home Depot or Lowes. We just free handed it. My 6 and 8 year old grandmites did it with ease.  They.will last until you mow the yard twice.

2. Cover your Regular Sized Throw Pillows with Red and Blue Bandanas

Put a bandana on each side of the pillow and tie together with raffia.

3. Make your 7 Layer Mexican Dip look like an American Flag

Make as usual ending with sour cream and stipe with small tomatoes.  Make your stars with black olives. (see photo)

4. Pigs in a Blanket topped with Stars

Simply make the hot dog wrapped with cresent rolls. put a wooden skewers and top with a piec of block cheddar cut like a star.

5. Fruit Flavored Water with is layered Red, White, and Blue.

Put blue berries in th4e bottom of the container and top with ice.  Then add water. Top with sliced strawberries.

6. Striped Sugar Cookie Cake

Use the pre-made sugar cookie dough and press it onto a pizza pan and bake.  Let it cool and stripe it red, white, and blue.  Use rasberries or strawberries for the red, blue berries for the blue and icing or whipcream for the white.
